Central Estuary Restoration Project

Location: Squamish, British Columbia
Date: 2018-2022

Biophysical monitoring services were provided by LTE Inc for this important restoration project in the Squamish Valley. Services involved monitoring sediment accretion, water levels, water quality and estuary wetland vegetation from 2018 to 2022. Permanent stations were set up in the estuary and monitored by LTEC to obtain baseline and post-restoration data to inform on changes that occur in the estuary over time and after restoration. Restoration involved reconnecting the river and the central estuary through culvert upgrades and the removal of an artificial berm. For more information refer to the Squamish River Watershed Society’s “Restoring the Shore” page.
